Råshult

The residential building was built in timber and was most often covered with roof of grass. The cowhouses were covered with straw ceilings. The buildings were small and grey. The red paint did not become common on the countryside before during other half of 1900th-century.

At Linné´s Råshult is a project going on, since some years, to restore the landscapeas it looks like when Linné lived there with small-scaled fields, forest and meadow land. On the stony fields, are cultivated old types of barleys , oat and rye. Another important crop is the flax. Now a days the meadow land is asserted on a traditional way and is restored graduallyto reach its ancient extent.Step by step is the fence in wood rebuilting. In the area, you can find plants as March gentian, Lousewort, Common milkwort, Arnica montana,Viper's-grass and Heath Spotted-orchid.

Linnés birth place Råshults Södregård

Linnés Råshult is open for visitors but is also organic agriculturewhere the meadows will produce winter fodder to the animals. That´s why it is important to follow the paths and not tread in the meadows so it can be broken.
