Taxås Klint

Nature reserve Taxås lies on Möckelsnäs -peninsula in Möckeln and covers 64 hectare land inclusive islands and 53 hectare water. The main building Taxås farm does not enter in the reserve. Half of the cultivated areas, that has an old age structure, are included like a big part of the forest on the farm.

The noble-deciduous forests on limerich soil with green stone bedrock is rich in species with lime-tree, elm, oak, maple, avenbeech and beech. In the spring blossoms for exemple Liverleaf, Bird-in-a-bush, Yellow Star-of-Betlehem, Chrysosplenium alternifolium and Spring Pea.Exceptional articles among lava and wood-beetles show that the qualities on the forest with old trees and dead wood has a long story in the area.

The area is easy to access and from Taxås klint in the north part of the area you have a fantastic view over the islands in the sea surrounding deciduous forests.

Sunset at Möckeln sea

Here is also exists Taxås "klint" which was an important place for the breaking of the black granite. From the sea side, you can see the rests of many stone fractures.

Today, perhaps Taxås "klint" is most well-known for the spectaculare view place, with view over the whole sea Möckeln. Taxås deciduous forests with the rich flora have tempted many botanists to these lands. In the vicinity it also exists a "hällkista"(a grave from the Stone age).
