Journeys Löfling traveled to Spain 1751 to botanic
investigate the Iberian peninsula. Three years later he was offered to participate in an expedition to the Spanish south-america in order to among other things to collect plants to the Spanish court, the Swedish queen and Linné. Löfling was purposeful get to work, but was hit quite soonly of disease, and died in malaria only 27 years old.
Left documentation Gemmae Arborum - Trädens knoppar 1749. His unique natural historical notes were published posthumos by Linné 1758: : Iter Hispanicum, eller resa til Spanska Länderna uti Europa och America 1751-1756.
Notable Linné called his favorite disciple "Voltur" (=gam), because of Löflings sharp-sighted in the nature and called a Spanish weed, Loeflingia hispanica, after his disciple.
