During the study time in Turku, he did research travels in Finland and Sweden. Lately he was entered at Uppsala univer-sity and was sent by Linné to do travels to the west of Sweden, Russia and North america. One of the information during the late travel was to find plants, that willed tolerate the Swedish climate. Kalm recurred some years late with an im-pressing plant- and seedcollection, which done Linné very pleased. Kalm is con-sidered as one of the front disciples.

Kalm came into a professorship in natural history and economy at Turku university. He built also up his own “Hammarby” there.
