Journey Torén traveled with "Svenska Ostindiska Kompaniet" to Surat in west India and from there further to Kanton in China. The travel was started in 1750 and was completed 1752. The year after he´s got a tropical disease and died of that. He sent extensive collections home to Sweden which today exists at The Linnaean Society of London.

Notable Priest ordain 1747 and got a flower with the name Torenia called after himself. Linné was given out Toréns work in Osbecks diary over an "Ostindisk resa"
