PILDAMMSPARKEN

In the centre of Malmö lies Pildammsparken as a lung in the big city crowd. The extensive park is well-known for its birdlife and flowerconstruction. Here, you can find two restaurants in the park.


TORUPS SLOTT & BOKSKOGEN

Torup is a well preserved castle from the 1600th century. It has a garden, that was appointed to one of the ten most beautiful gardens in Sweden during 2003. In the castle area lies also a country walks area, the beech wood, that has a big visit frequency by people who lives in the city. The area has an impressing and varied plant- and animal life. Castlegarden and the beech wood lies approximately 15 km east of Malmö and it´s open all year around.


LUNDS BOTANISKA TRÄDGÅRD

The garden is an institution in the centre of Lund, with ancestry from the 1700th century. Today over 7000 different plant articles are cultivated and the visit categories are many. In the 8 hectar big park, you can meet different people - from botany researchers to public and school classes. The park is open from early morning until late evening all year. DAG HAMMARSKJÖLDS BACKÅKRA
The farm with four longbuildings on Österlen was owned by the previous Secretary-General in FN, Dag Hammarskjöld, that so tragical was shot during commissions in the Congo 1961. The farm was given with inventories to Swedish Touring Club, that today runs the park. Backåkra lies nearby the beautiful coast road between Ystad and Simrishamn with a view over Östersjön. During the summer Backåkra is open as a museum, and contains among other things art of Picasso and Matisse. Three kinds of nature reservation meet here with a lot of beautiful nature experiences.

STENSHUVUD NATIONALPARK

Stenshuvud is one of the richest and most varying national parks in the country, and it has also the most southern location. It rise itself 97 meters over Hanöbuktens Östersjö-balances with a thriving view over the ambient deciduous forest-ceiling and the beach's level sandy fields. In the park, it exist well expanded path and a nature-room with permanent exhibition and information center.

KIVIK

At the northern part of Stenshuvud lies the "Äpplets Hus in Kivik" and Kiviks Musteri. In various ways the importance of the apple as a cultural heritage are shown, but also fruit- and berry productionin a modern industrial way is shown. It is open the whole summer.

BRÖSARPS BACKAR

Around the Brösarp village, in the beautiful Österlen, lies the natural beauty slopes with plentiful meadowflowers. On one of the hills lies Ravlunda church, where the grave of, for exemple, Fritjof Nilsson. Here breaks also Verkeån forward through the landscape, on the way down to Haväng at Hanöbuktens beach.

VEN

The island Ven is a 30-45 meters high plateau with backing cases, as fall precipice down in Öresund. The view from the island is thriving against both Sweden and Denmark. Here the astronom Tycho Brahe lived and researched from his castle Uraniborg and observatory Stjerneborg during the 1600th century. Today is these and also the renaissance garden, reconstructed on a very attractive way, and only for this, is´s surely worth a visit. On Ven you mostly go around on hire bike or tractorwaggon. Ferry commanication exists from Landskrona port or Råå south of Helsingborg (in the summer).

FREDRIKSDALS FRILUFTSMUSEUM

A visit to Fredriksdal can be as travelling in history. The outdoor museum is one of the biggest in the country with its 36 hectar parks, gardens, houses and farms. This is a country manor environment, with town blocks and garden history, all on the same area and near Helsingborg city.

SOFIERO SLOTT

The previous royal summercastle was drawn up in a will 1973, to the town of Helsingborg after Gustav VI Adolf's dead. The castle park still takes care of one of the the king's big interests, rhododendronbush. Today almost 10.000 plants of 300 species or hybrids exists there. In the park exists there are also several royal plants, and a new orangeri building. Here, "garden days" are arranged, but also flower exhibitions, art exhibitions, concerts, artpaintingweek and handicraft days among other things.

SÖDERÅSEN

Söderåsen national park is northern Europe's biggest cohesive and protected deciduous forest area. The nature is varying and invites to leafy deciduous forests, powerful race precipices with high clifs, steamy watercourses and wide views. A specially wellknown visit is Skäralid and Odensjön in Nackarpsdalen with the view points Kopparhatten, Hjortsprånget and Lierna along Skäralidsdalen. In the national park's crevice falls and high-grade deciduous forests, exist a rich flora and fauna.

KULLABERG

Kullabergs Nature reservation offers fantastic nature experiences, as world well-known guide “guide Michelin” given three stars in its book over Swedish remarkable things. The mountain's dramatic nature and peculiar flora and fauna tempt to both botanic walkings and birdlooking. Divers and climbers mean that the area is one of northern Europe's best adventure activity. A long way out on “kullanäsan” rise the most light strongest lighthouse in Skandinavia.

HALLANDS VÄDERÖ

Hallands Väderö is an old nature reservation with many different biotops on a small surface. Choose a walk among distorted tormented junipers, a walk around the lighthouse, a beautiful walk in the beech wood or a mysterious walk through Ulagapskärret. Or why not a bath at the sandy beach or among the rocks. Väderön has a small museum in the old pilot cottage and a café. You reach the island on 20 minutes with rebuilt old fishing boats, that is paid from the charming fishing village Torekov on Bjärehalvön.

WANÅS SLOTT

Wanås renaissance castle, with Middle Age ancestry, is surrounded by a park with thirty permanent works of art of international contemporary art. The old grain warehouse has been gradually rebuilt and is used as exhibition hallmostly for installation works. Those artists that guests Wanås often work both in the park and in the warehouse. The old stable holds a museum and there is also a café.

BRIO LEKOSEUM

BRIO Lekoseum in Osby is a connection of cultural history that arouses childlike mine with as well old as young. Here BRIO's and the toy's history are shown in an exhibition, that is held in old railway waggons, along with house and Workshop of Santa Claus.

KARLSKRONA MARINMUSEUM

Karlskrona's well preserved marine 1600- and 1700th century milieu is unique and 1998 it became introduced on UNESCO:s world heritage list as “Örlogsstaden Karlskrona”. Marinmuseum visit center, “Världsarvsportalen”, invites you to an exhibition about the port and fortification. There are many old ships of varying kind in the port but also on land, among other things in slop - and the longboat hovel.
The area lies in the center of Karlskrona.

KALMAR SLOTT

The most preserved renaissance castle in Sweden, with a perfect association of castle and defence castle, lies at Slottsfjärden with a view over Kalmarsund and Öland. The castle has been important to the Swedish and Nordic history. Who has not heard about Kalmarunionen 1397? In the 1600th century Gustav Vasa and his sons rebuilt the castle to the splendid palace with fantastic furnishing, that still can be experienced. Kalmar Slott holds open for visits all the year around with guided tours, feasts and other different occasions.

ALVARET – VÄRLDSARVET SÖDRA ÖLAND

The whole southern Öland from Färjestaden and southwards, is recorded on UNESCO:s world heritage list. The cultivated landscape, the row villages, vouches and grave fields, orcidées, "alvaret", the bird life and a lot of other thing, make the area surely worth a visit.

ASTRID LINDGRENS VÄRLD

The world of Astrid Lindgren is a fairytale park for the whole family with edified environments from Lindgren's fairytale world. Other things worth seeing in Vimmerby on the same theme is Nås, Katthult and Bullerbyn. Next to the Astrid Lindgren world lies the farm of Astrid Lindgren,that is a small exhibition about Lindgren's life and agencies, which is open all year around.

KURREBO

On Kurrebo idea- and exhibition garden you can walk around and enjoy a comfortable environment with approximately 700 different kinds of perennial, roses, climb plants, conifer, bushes and trees. Kurrebo's will is that visitors shall get ideas and inspiration for their own gardens. Bröderna Nelsons Frö AB carries experiment cultivation of summer flowers, bulb- and hump plants and vegetables. Here is also “Eden”, an apple cultivation in the middle of the "småländska" applecultivates areas.

SMÅLANDS MUSEUM

Smålands museum is Sweden's oldest country type museum with ancestry from late 1800th century. The front information is to show the "småländska" cultural heritage and "kronobergarnas" cultural history. The museum is also Sweden's glass museum and has a national commission to collect, document and to show Swedish glass and the way it's handled. The nearest neighbour is "Utvandrarnas Hus", also that is surely worth a visit.

UTVANDRARNAS HUS

Swedish Emigrant institute runs the activity at Utvandrarnas Hus in the city of Växjö, and it rests on four corner stones: archives, libraries, research and special exhibitions. The aim is to promote emigrat history and to starch the contacts with Swedish emigrants and their descendants. The exhibition shows in a lot of ways the reasons to that so many Swedish people broke up from their roots, often with very long and risky travels, to an uncertain future.

HUSEBY BRUK

Along the custom village street exists worker-, mill-, sawmill-, electricity- and ironmuseum. At the museums you can experience how the work went on in the old days. In the country shop, you can buy newly baked bread and home-coagulated cheese. Huseby's nature room is one of the country's biggest and most extensive. Here, you can follow the "småländska" nature from glacial period to this time. The country estate is available for the general public and the furnishings exist basically intact since miss Florence Stephens lived here. The country estate park is restored with plants and cultivations from before, so long this has been possible. In the area there is a café and an inn.

LJUNGBY - SAGOMUSEUM

RONNEBY BRUNN - BRUNNSPARKEN

At the turn of the 1900-2000th century Ronneby was a well-known heath resort. Here you went both to drink heath moving spirit mineral water and take strengthening walksin the beautiful "Blekinge" nature. Today in the spa park there are many activities, especially during the summer. You can do some exercise, view all the old exellent buildings or only enjoy the big green areas and the nature.

The Ljungberg museum shows a big part of Sven Ljungberg's and Ann Margret Dahlquist-Ljungberg's drawings, paintings, grafik and books. Each year is produced also one or more exhibitions in collaborationwith other art exhibitions.

NORRVIKENS TRÄDGÅRDAR

Rudolf Abelin's life agencies and Norrviken's gardens is especially value in ourtime. Here exists for exemple the Barock - and Renaissance garden, the watergarden, the Ulla Molin garden, the Japanese garden and a majority different garden styles. A season programme is presented each year with news in the garden, exhibitions, concerts and garden weeks. Norrviken's gardens are open during the period april - september, certain parts are also available during mars - oktober.
