Journeys |
Twentyseven years old Solander arrived to London, and would never see Sweden again. He´s got a job at British museum and worked among other things with the big Benjamin Franklin. Solander became near friend with Sir Joseph bank's, and together they participated in James Cooks first sailing around the world. The journey went via south America, to Australia, Oceania, Asia and Africa and resulted in a homebringing of 110 plant families and 1 400 species. All new for the science. After homecoming Solander and Banks was honoured more than Cook. The year after, the both friends again was travelled on an expedition. This time to Hebriderna and Island. |
