Journeys Linné arranged financing of Rolander´s travel to Surinam. Already at the beginning of the journey he get sick and evil moreover of an increasing mental illness. This combined with dread of wild animals,
in particular insects, did that his stay in the hot and damp climate, had a rapidly interrupt.
Left documentation His notes were published 1811: Diarium surinamense, quod sub itinere exotico conscripsit Daniel Solander.
Notable After the homecoming he felt very bad mental, and after a rootless moving, he died destitute in Lund.
