Journeys Thunberg got a possibility that, with Dutch Ostindiska Kompaniet, travel to the enigmatic and closed Japanese. Only the Dutchmen had trade rights and Thunberg must faith himself Dutch. Therefore he spend three years in Kap-provinsen, where he also got possibilities to detailed study southern Africas naturale history. The journey continued via Java to Japan, where he spended fifteen months with plant collecting. During the journey back they did a half-year break in Sri Lanka. . |

"Venis - Resorbentibus - Om lymfkärlen 1767", "Flora Japonica" and "Flora Capensis" was given out after the journey.
And also his diaries on four different languages: "Resa uti Europa, Africa, Asia, förrättad åren 1770-1779" (four different volumes). He has left a herbarium with 27 500 sheets of plants and an insects-collection with 37 000 copies, donated to Uppsala university. |

Thunberg is considered as Linnés front disciple, and many means that when he died, 1828, he took Linné´s active epoch with him in his grave. |
